Join us for a free screening of News of the World (Rated PG-13, 118 minutes) in the Kimball Junction Branch auditorium. The film is based on the novel News of the World by Paulette Jiles. After the screening, we will have an optional discussion about the novel and the film. The book can be checked out at the library and the e-book and audiobook are always available on Libby.

Synopsis: Five years after the end of the Civil War, Capt. Jefferson Kyle Kidd crosses paths with a 10-year-old girl taken by the Kiowa people. Forced to return to her aunt and uncle, Kidd agrees to escort the child across the harsh and unforgiving plains of Texas. However, the long journey soon turns into a fight for survival as the traveling companions encounter danger at every turn -- both human and natural.
