Book to Film Club (The Swimmers)

This month we'll be watching the film The Swimmers (PG-13, 134 minutes) on our own through Netflix and having a discussion about the book and film over Zoom. The film is based on the book Butterfly: From Refugee to Olympian, My Story of Rescue, Hope and Triumph by Yusra Mardini. The e-book and audiobook are always available to check out on Libby. Synopsis: Two Syrian sisters flee their war-torn home in Damascus, swim for hours in choppy Mediterranean seas to reach Greece as asylum seekers before going on to compete at the Rio Olympic Games.
