Taught by Insa Riepen from the Friends of the Summit County Library

Everybody is talking about reducing food waste from going into our landfill. Here's your opportunity to learn what to do about it. Join us for a free Home Composting class at the Library taught by Insa Riepen from the Friends of the Summit County Library.

Compost is nature's own recycling system. Leaves, grass, and other organic matter that fall to the ground provide a home and food supply for nature's recyclers--worms, and other microorganisms. These organisms feed on the plant material, breaking them down, and turning them into a product - Black Gold.

  • Learn how to start a pile.
  • How to build a composter.
  • Do's and Don'ts of composting.
  • Get the recipe to build a pile.
  • How to use the finished product - humus.

This class will be held in Room 133 (downstairs by the DMV) at the Kimball Junction Branch. Composter and collection buckets will be available for purchase from Recycle Utah.
